The Manchester City Library was established in the mid-1850s, and serves the population of Manchester, the largest city in the state of New Hampshire.
The Manchester Public Library’s objective was to develop a Children’s park theme room that is bright, open and inviting. They wanted a dedicated toddler area surrounded by some of the historic buildings of Manchester giving all visitors a first-person perspective and a piece of history. The new layout also needed to include a more functional children’s computer area, various sized tables and chairs as well as a reading nook area just for kids.
Brandit developed and built a free-standing wall from floor to ceiling giving you that first person perspective as you walk through the two arch ways. Brandit partnered with the Manchester Historic society to gain access to old photos of the historic buildings. These photos allowed us to recreate all the buildings while capturing all the detail and the craftsmanship the brick layers used over a century ago.
We also added some depth to the wall with a cobble stone road and new sightlines. Brandit had to get very creative with a new direct to print on a fire rated material to keep this project in building code. Brandit’s construction team then put on all the finishing touches with detailed cap work of the rooflines and archways to give this free-standing wall an amazing three-dimensional look and feel.
